Meet Ms. Jenna

Hello Mustangs!

My name is Jenna Sullivan, and I LOVE being the School Counselor at Moreland Road Elementary. Each year, I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of the students, staff, and parents. As a School Counselor, I love connecting with others, truly listening, sharing, and being there for others. In addition, being positive, uplifting and encouraging are things that are meaningful to me and these qualities help to create a happier school.

I would like the students, staff, and parents at Moreland Road to think of my office as a warm and friendly place, where they are always welcome. My office is also a safe haven – a place where others can get help if they feel confused or worried. It is important to know that there are people that care at school. I want the students to know that I am an ally…an adult at the school who will be on their side, advocate for them, and who wants the best for them. At Moreland Road, it is imperative that all students and staff experience fair treatment, access, opportunity, advancement, overall equity, respect, and a feeling of belonging. One of the most important roles of the School Counselor is to advocate for this to consistently be the norm. My door is always open for suggestions and collaboration.

In addition to being a School Counselor, I am also a Holistic Nutritionist and Yoga Instructor. I am passionate about overall wellness and hope to contribute to healthy practices at Moreland Road Elementary. My belief is that when we are eating well, sleeping a full eight hours, drinking plenty of water, exercising, spending time with family and friends, and experiencing a fulfilling spiritual life, that these healthy practices contribute to our happiness, health, and overall well being. This in turn affects productivity, and the ability to pay attention and work hard.

My responsibilities include promoting academic, social/emotional, and career based support to students. In addition, I am a proud member of our Lighthouse team, promoting our “Leader in Me” program, which is based on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. I offer support to students, staff, families and the overall community. I also offer short-term individual counseling, small group counseling, large group counseling, and classroom guidance lessons. Small group counseling topics include groups on making friends, divorce, loss, anger management, study skills, self-esteem, and more. Please contact me about getting your child involved in small groups at Moreland Road. In addition, I offer consultation services to parents, teachers, and administrators to discuss student needs and solutions. In order to contact me, please call me at my direct line at 770-229-3755 X21105, via email at jenna.sullivan@gscs.org, or contact your child’s teacher or any of the Moreland Road staff.

Sometimes, when things change or are different from the way we are used to, or if there is too much to do, it is easy to become overwhelmed or stressed. Taking things one step at a time, one task at a time helps me in these situations. If this ever happens to you, take a moment to slow down, bring awareness to your physical body, take a deep breath, and do the next right thing. Stating a positive affirmation, such as, “I am relaxed” or “I am surrounded by love” can help. You may have to repeat this a few times, but after a while, you really will begin to feel more relaxed.

One of my favorite quotes is: “Shoot for the Moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” This reminds me that having great goals and believing in ourselves can help us to get where we want to go in life. Just beginning the journey by taking the first step is often all we need to do to get started.

Let’s have a great year, friends!

Meet Mrs. Tiffany

Hi! My name is Tiffany Laberis, and I’m the Behavior Interventionist at Moreland Road Elementary. I have an amazing team, including Ms. Jenna, our school counselor, the admin team, and all the incredible staff here. I work closely with teachers to support students throughout the school.

My job is to help students grow in their social and emotional development. I strive to create a positive and welcoming environment where everyone feels safe and supported. If a student is feeling big emotions or struggling with behaviors, I’m here to help them learn calming strategies and ways to work through those tough moments.

I want every student and family at Moreland Road to know that I’m here to support each and every child through their learning journey. I truly love what I do and am passionate about helping students succeed.

I’m also working on my master’s degree in School Counseling to grow even more in my role. My goal is to make sure every student at MRE feels seen, heard, and valued!

Resources

We all have needs and at times, are unsure of where to turn to meet those needs. Here in Spalding County, many resources are available to lend a helping hand. We are so grateful to the Spalding Collaborative for allowing us to use their richly compiled list of resources:
