Welcome to the MRE Media Center, where readers grow, curiosity is encouraged, and learning is always an adventure!
Our Media Center is more than a place to check out books. It is a space where students can discover new interests, develop a love of reading, build research and technology skills, and become confident, independent learners. Throughout the year, students participate in engaging library lessons, special reading celebrations, schoolwide activities, and opportunities to explore books that are just right for them.
Reading & AR
Accelerated Reader is a big part of our reading culture at MRE! Students are encouraged to read books they enjoy, take AR quizzes, and work toward personal reading goals. Throughout the year, we celebrate students through our AR Point Clubs, Readers of the Month, grade-level recognition, and AR Class of the Month.
Our goal isn't simply to earn points—it is to help every Mustang grow as a reader while discovering books they genuinely enjoy!
Game On!
This year's Media Center theme is “Game On!”, connecting with our schoolwide focus, “Leaders Play to Win.” Students are encouraged to set goals, make good choices, challenge themselves, and keep growing—both as readers and as leaders.
There's Always Something Happening!
From the Scholastic Book Fair and Literacy Days to special lessons, reading challenges, celebrations, and schoolwide events, the Media Center stays busy all year long. Be sure to check this page throughout the school year for updates, resources, upcoming events, and ways to support reading at home.

All About Mrs. Andrews
Hi! I’m Mrs. Anissa Andrews, and I am the Media Specialist at Moreland Road Elementary. I have been a librarian since 2009 and have been lucky enough to call Moreland Road home since 2018. Before becoming a librarian, I taught Language Arts, so books, reading, and helping kids discover great stories have always been a big part of who I am!
I believe the Media Center should be one of the most exciting places in the school—a place where students feel welcome, discover books they actually want to read, ask questions, explore new ideas, and become confident users of information and technology.
One of my favorite parts of my job is building a strong reading culture at MRE. I love celebrating our readers through Accelerated Reader, AR Point Clubs, Readers of the Month, special reading events, book fairs, and plenty of fun along the way! I also work with students on research, digital citizenship, media literacy, technology, and the skills they need to become independent lifelong learners.
When I'm not in the Media Center, you'll almost always find me with a book—or, more accurately, an audiobook! I love reading, spending time with my family and friends, and hanging out with my sweet Chihuahua, Angel-Baby.
Most of all, I love watching a student go from “I don't like to read” to “Mrs. Andrews, do you have the next book?”
